"All told, Pachachi is a very practical person. But her emotions are close to the surface as she talks about the second course at the school in 2006. The litany of kidnaps and deaths (none of them a result of the school's work) brings home what the violence in Iraq over the last few years has meant for ordinary people."
Says Pachachi: “The idea for the film began when my writing partner Irada told me that she had made notes about situations that she had been involved in during 2006-2007 including conversations she had remembered and written down, sometimes verbatim, in a notebook. This inspired me to recall events I had witnessed myself and, together, we then began a long and complex process of sharing those memories and experiences with one another in order to build a fabric of stories and anecdotes about life in Iraq during that period.”
